  1. Scope

    This OMRON connect Privacy Statement ("Statement") applies to your use of:

    1. OMRON connect Application Software: Application software “OMRON connect” and any updates or supplements to it provided by us or a member of our company group that you download and use on your smartphone, tablet, or other mobile device ("Device"). (hereinafter referred to as the "App").
    2. OMRON connect Cloud Service: Service that allows you to use the App to store the "Customer Information" (other than passwords) stored on the Device on a server managed by us or our contracted service provider, and to access the Customer Information remotely from Device. (hereinafter referred to as the "Service"). Statement sets out the basis on which OMRON Healthcare Co., Ltd. having its registered address at 53 Konotsubo, Terado-cho, Muko-city, Kyoto, Japan (“Omron” or “We”) in processing your personal information collected in connection with the App and/or the Service or provided by you to us. If you register for or use the App or the Services, you are assumed to have carefully read each of the following terms and to understand our views and practices regarding your personal information and how we treat it. If you do not consent or if you are a minor, you may not register for or use the App or the Service.

  2. Information we may collect from you

    The App may be used as a stand-alone mobile application that stores data only on the Device. However, you may also choose to connect the App to the Service by creating your personal account for the Service if you reside in certain countries where we provide the Service.

    If you do not use the Service and use the App only as a stand-alone application, your biometric information will only be stored on the Device. We guarantee that all data stored on the Device by the App is encrypted with the latest encryption technology and that unauthorized third parties cannot easily access or read your personal information.

    Regardless of whether you use the Service or not, we will collect and process the following data regarding your personal information and the Device based on your consent to this policy.

    Providing personal information is not mandatory, but if you do not provide personal information or if you do not consent to the practices described in this Policy, you may not be able to fully use the App or the Services.

    Even if you do not use the Services and only use this Application, we will obtain the following "Attribute Information," "Registered Device Information," "Support Information," and "User History Information" for the purpose of providing, operating, and managing this Application and responding to your inquiries. Furthermore, when a customer registers for and uses the Service, we additionally obtain the following "biometric information" and "account information" (excluding passwords) for the purpose of providing, operating, and managing the App and the Service and responding to inquiries from customers.

    1. Customer Information:
      1. Your date of birth, age, gender, height, weight, and any other attribute information you provide ("Attribute Information")
      2. Your blood pressure, weight, and other measurement data measured by our health and medical devices ("Biometric Information")
        ※“Biometric Information” does not include your non-overlapping physiological data related to a human body such as fingerprints, iris, face, voice, and gait.
      3. Information about the health and medical devices that transmit biometric information to the Application and information entered into those devices ("Registered Device Information")
      4. Your login ID, token for authenticating the ID, e-mail address, password, and other information related to the account you have set up to use the Service ("Account Information")
      5. Information provided by customers in participating in questionnaires, campaigns, events, or clinical research provided through the App or the Service (hereinafter referred to as "questionnaire information"). )

    3. Information you provide to us when you contact us for support or other purposes.

    4. User History Information:
    5. Your access history, in-app activity history, search history, IP address, date, referring/exit pages, and other information regarding your use of the Services using identifiers sent by the web server when your browser accesses a website ("Cookies") and URL information of the website you accessed most recently (Information transmitted by a browser, hereinafter referred to as "Referrer information").

    6. Linked App and Service information:
    7. Information about the customer transferred from the linked application and/or service to the system server of the App or the Service ,if you agree that the App and/or Service link with a third-party application and/or service (hereinafter referred to as the "Linked App / Service"). In addition, you separately agree to disclose and provide the Linked App / Service Information to us by the third-party, including the Linked App / Service provider or its affiliates, through the Linked App / Service. * If the Linked App / Service is "Google Health Connect (GHC)", the Linked App and Service information is hereinafter referred to as "GHC Data".  Also, if the Linked App / Service is "Google Fit", the Linked App and Service information is hereinafter referred to as "Google Fit Data". The App requests permission to access the location of the Device for Bluetooth communication with our health and medical devices. We do not collect or use this location information, but if you select "Always Allow" in the location settings, the App will transfer data from the background of the Device even when the App is closed.

  3. How we use your information

    We will use your personal information and other data for the following purposes, in addition to providing, operating, and managing this Application or the Services and responding to your inquiries. When registering for or using the Application or the Service, you need to consent to the use of your personal information and other data for the following purposes.

    1) To provide information on products or services in the medical and health care business
    2) Requests for questionnaires in the medical and health care business
    3) Development or improvement of products (including algorithm development) and services in the medical and health care business
    4) Campaign and event information, drawings, announcement of winners, or delivery of prizes in the medical and health care business
    5) Recruitment of subjects for clinical research or conduct of clinical research
    6) Conducting research and academic-related activities, including the publication of papers, in the medical and health fields
    7) Responding to customer inquiries when customers contact us for support or other purposes
    8) Planning, marketing, development (including system and application development), production, promotion or sales activities related to other medical and health equipment and services production, promotion, or sales activities, and any other operations incidental to such activities.
    9) Disclosure and provision of customer information to third parties as described in "Disclosure of Customer Information to Third Parties" below.
    * We will only transfer GHC Data to third parties for improving the application’s use case or features. We will not use GHC Data for any other purposes, including transfer to advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers (We will process GHC Data in compliance with Google Play Store's policy for APIs accessing sensitive data). Also, we will use and transfer Google Fit Data received from Google APIs to any other app in compliance with Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

    In addition, the information described in " 2. Information We may collect from You" above may be analyzed and used for advertising and promotion of products and services in the medical and health care business that meet your interests and preferences, and for other purposes described in 1) through 8) above.

  4. Disclosure of your Information to third parties

    When you register for and use the Application or the Service, you need to agree that we may disclose your personal information collected from you to third parties, including our affiliates and contractors that operate the Application and the Service, for the following purposes:

    1. To process personal information for the purpose described in “3. How we use your information” above, such as application usage analysis, data storage, customer support, marketing analysis, etc.
    2. To enforce our terms and conditions or policies
    3. To comply with any applicable law, regulation, court order, other legal process or governmental request
    4. To assert our legal rights or defend against legal claims
    5. To prevent, detect or investigate illegal activities, fraud, abuse of rights, breach of contract, or threats to security or physical safety of any person

    By registering for and using the Application or the Service, you need to agree that we may disclose or provide your personal information to third parties for sales, marketing, development or research activities by anonymizing your personal information, including statistical information processed in a manner that does not identify any specific individual.

  5. Transfer of your information outside your country

    For the operation, maintenance, and servicing of the system and server of this service, a contractor located in Vietnam may have access to your personal information. The contractor has obtained ISMS (Information Security Management System) certification and handles customer information in accordance with international standards (ISO/IEC27001).   6. Security Measures

    We have implemented technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, and disclosure. All personal information you provide to us is stored on secure servers. Data transmission is carried out using SSL, a protocol that encrypts data as it is sent and received.

    Unfortunately, no transmission of information over the Internet can be completely secure. While we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the complete security of your data transmitted through the Service. Please understand that data transmission is at your own risk. Once we receive your personal information, we take strict procedures and security measures to prevent unauthorized access.

  7. Your Rights

    You have several rights with respect to our processing of your information, including the following

    You have access to your personal information stored by us.
    You may request that we update, correct, delete, or stop processing your personal information.
    You may withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal information or object to our processing of your personal information. However, in this case, you will not be able to continue using the Application or the Service, as it is technically extremely difficult to respond individually in the system. Please use the "Delete Account" function in this Application for information on how to withdraw the above.
    You may request that we restrict the processing of your personal information. However, if you restrict the processing, you may not continue to use the Application or the Services. Please use the "Delete Account" function within the Application for information on how to restrict the above.
    You may request us to export and provide your Personal Data in file format for use in other services of your choice or for transfer to third parties.

    However, the Company will not be able to respond to your request for pseudonymized information as defined in the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, which is created by the Company by removing information that can identify you as an individual and then processing the information into symbols and numbers, etc. We cannot respond to customer requests for pseudonymized information as defined in the Act on the Protection of Personal Information.

  8. Retention of your Information

    We retain your personal information for as long as you maintain an account with the Application and the Service. If you cease using the Service and your account is terminated, the Company shall retain only anonymized information.
